40 Years of Unilite 

From a garage in Solihull & £800 to our name to a global lighting brand, Unilite has come a long way in the last 40 years. We wanted to share our story and celebrated with you all on the big day, with our biggest sale ever! 

Humble Beginnings 

Founded in 1981 by Bryan & Maureen Insley under “LBM Sales” the company took off from it’s first product. An imported torch from Hong Kong which managed to pull in £50k within it’s first year. 

Due to the success of the product Bryan grew the business from sales to manufacture within only a few years creating iconic products such as the Thomas the Tank Engine Lantern and Work Light Glasses. The Glasses were even featured on the front cover of Vogue magazine!  

Throughout the 90’s Unilite brought many new and exciting work lights to the UK Market focussing on innovation and quality at every step. It wasn’t until 2010 that Bryan & Maureen’s children; Laura & Alex became Directors of the company. Since then Unilite was refocused to build the brand and create strong manufacturing partnerships to make sure every Unilite product is the best it can be. This change of approach brought about huge growth of over 300%! 

We love our fans  

Just creating the best products on the market was not enough, we wanted to be known as a company that backed up their lights with world class service. Adding value to Unilite being a family owned company. Alex can still be found interacting directly with customers and fans on our social channels. 

More than just an LED work light. 

We like to think we’ve always been ahead of the trend when it comes to product development. From launching the world’s first LED beanie hat. To using ultra tough materials in all our new LED work lights we like to lead, never follow. 

It’s not all just R & D, we like to have fun too. 

In the last year we have been doing some EXTREME testing for our products including cricket balls, tanks… and space flight. 

The Future of Unilite 

We have some very exciting plans coming up, and they are not just limited to exciting new LED work lights. In the next few months we’re going to be launching our podcast in collaboration with some of the biggest trade brands and industry figures. But not only that, we’re launching our own beers just for Tradeys. Yup you heard that right!
